Columbia District, Downtown San Diego
Columbia District Condos, Lofts and Penthouses are often best recognized as the luxury row of high-rise buildings lining Pacific Highway along the western facing North Embarcadero area. You might also know the Columbia District as the “face” of San Diego. With its proximity to the waterfront, the Santa Fe Train Station, the Cruise Ship Terminals, the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum, the Maritime Museum and the Embarcadero Promenade, many Downtown San Diego Real Estate buyers see this neighborhood as the gateway from which many travelers experience all that Downtown San Diego has to offer.
Broadway, Ash Street, Union Street, and Pacific Highway are the borders of the Columbia District. Little Italy, the Core District and the Marina District are the neighborhoods that surround it.
The Columbia District has much to offer in terms of access to emerging green space. The North Embarcadero Visionary Plan will soon add a 100 ft wide promenade along the water with water fountains, new restaurants, and shopping areas. Just to the north will be downtown’s first park with underground parking. The Columbia District is destined to become Downtown San Diego’s newest landmark.
The Columbia District used to lack residents as it was more of a commercial neighborhood, home to expensive office buildings, parking lots and courthouses. However, Downtown San Diego Real Estate buyers see this neighborhood as promising due to the construction of deluxe condos and penthouses. The Grande at Santa Fe, Sapphire, Electra, and Bayside are prime examples. All of these communities have luxury appointments and some of the nicest unobstructed views in all of downtown.
