El Cortez Condos and Penthouses have unique characteristics and are located in an historic building in the Cortez Hill neighborhood. The building was built in 1927 and was at that time the tallest building in Downtown San Diego. It was used as a hotel and apartments all the way until a condo conversion took place in 2004.

Developer Anthony Block and Peter Janopaul wanted to preserve its design and architecture and restored it to its original Spanish Colonial Revival and Mission Revival style. Today, 85 contemporary Downtown San Diego Condos along with 11 retail spaces and a parking structure is a part of the El Cortez building.

With its 15 story, El Cortez has been a landmark known by many. If you have approached Downtown San Diego, this building is one of a kind and hard to miss.
